Even still, it's just much more comfortable to hold in your hands compared to Sony's controller. I have probably slightly larger than average hands, so that's probably the reason. After playing Borderlands 2 for a few hours, my hands and fingers didn't feel cramped or tired like they do when using the DualShock. I actually prefer the shape and ergonomics(which are almost an exact replica of that other console's controller) of this controller over the DualShock. The good thing is you can charge it while you play, but the receiver takes up one USB slot, and then the USB cable used for charging takes up the second slot, so if you have other necessary things plugged into the USB slots on your PS3, you may want to charge it using your computer's USB slot overnight or whenever you're not playing.īut overall, it's a great replacement controller for the standard DualShock 3. I'm hoping once I cycle the battery a few times, it will gain some longevity. I have only used it once so far, just charged it again. I gave it 4 stars only because the battery life so far has been a bit short, maybe 6 hours playtime. Also, it may not be able to power on/off the PS3. Just unplug the USB node from the device and plug it back in an the problem is solved. Occasionally, when enter/exiting hibernation frequently, the controller will assign itself to port 2/3 instead of 1.
I cannot comment on vibration, as I disabled it on my PC. Price/Build construction: having used logitech/pelican/madcatz/gravis(I'm old) plus the brand-name controller for every console from atari 7800 - 360-PS3-Wii (again, old), I can say that this controller is solidly one caliber of the build quality and longevity of the best controllers out their. Can actually charged while being used wirelessly (if you have an external battery pack from say a cell phone, this is quite awesome.) Versatility: Can use plugged into USB cable or wirelessly. Triggers are awesome.īattery: Last at least 12hours of straight gameplay (max I've used it w/out charging).
6-axis works well (and can be used on PC). Responsiveness: Syncs almost instantly once you turn it on. I believe it would work just fine on XBOX360, though I haven't has a chance to test it.
I also use it for my PC (get joytokey or Xpadder free and it works awesomely if you don't mind taking the time to customize your controls). Has this yummy felling rubberized grip on it as well.Ĭonnectivity: Works on PS3.
Once you do, I'd say its better than either of the aforementioned controllers. But the ergonomics take 30minutes top to get used to. It does not feel the same as a 360 controller or a PS3 controller.
